A Little Bit of History Life began when the club was founded in 1923 with the support of Compania De Luz, Where the nick name the Electricistas came from which was then transformed to the Lightening Bolts (Rayos) at a later date. As an amateur club the team was very successful in the early days winning the championship in the 1932-33, 1934-35, 1936-37, and 1937-38 seasons. The team then entered a dark period with little to shout about. It wasn’t until the 1994-95 season that the club won their next championship (their first as a professional club). They went on to win further championships in 1995-196 and the Invierno 1998. The most surprising feat of all came in a third place in the FIFA World Club Championship in 2000, a feat never matched by any other Mexican soccer team.
