Pachuca Soccer history
Pachuca were founded by the cornish miners of the Compaņia Real del Monte de Pachuca in 1901 giving the club the accolade of being the oldest football club in Mexico. The club played in the primera division until 1921 when the team went into abeyance until much later. The team was then reformed and played in the second division.

The club has pretty much been up and down between top tier and second division with its most consoistent period being since 1999. Prior to that the club were outside the top division for almost 19 years from the seventies onwards. Even when the Tuzos, as the club is knicknamed got promotion up to 1999 they were only in the primera division for one season before a poor display resulted in relegation.

When the club won the primera championship in 1999 it must have come as a great surprise to the fans given the teams previous history. From there the Pachuca soccer went from strength to strength winning 5 titles in 8 years the last being the Clausura 2007.
